Redevelopment (renovation and construction) listed buildingThe master plan of West 8’s new library builds a bridge between the city and the Navy Yard. The existing building, School 7, is commissioned by the Development maritime city and the Housing Foundation Den Helder redeveloped and also significantly expanded. The library serves approximately 4,000 visitors per week to leverage the public power between the shopping and Willemsoord. The original situation has been the starting point for the (re) construction. The structure of rooms, corridors and toilets is intact. Existing detailing the corridors, rooms, attics and inside walls is maintained and gerestaureerd.Door as much as possible the introduction of a new diagonal main access by getting over the former premises of the ground floor and the first floor in a special way a connection. The ‘punch’ of the existing building will locally existing roof structure and roof deck in sight. This perforation plays a central role in the interior design.
