On the east side of Almere is Boshart Almeerderhout. The Building located here will be further developed as an attractive play, climbing Outdoor Center of Forestry. The new workspace is for the foresters of the Forestry including restaurants, a shop, a presentation room and a number of support areas for climbing. Drost + van Veen architects designed a compact building, with an attractive appearance that fits an entrance building. The outside center entrance is at odds with the main entrance and is orthogonal to the path that runs from the main building. The central corridor meanders like a forest trail through the building. This idea of a forest is strengthened because it is between two volumes with pitched roofs. These two volumes can be directed to the quiet features to the forest and public functions to the playground and the water. A shift of the two volumes gives the building direction and a dynamic character.
